Financial Assistance from FEMA for Hurricane Ida Damages

Was your home damaged by Hurricane Ida?

You may be eligible for financial assistance from FEMA. 

 

To start your recovery process and apply for financial assistance, follow the steps below by December 6, 2021. There are resources available to download below for more information.

  1. Take photos of your damaged home and belongings.
  2. Make a list of damaged or lost items.
  3. Save yourself time. If you have insurance, please file a claim with your insurance company using the information collected in steps 1 and 2. If you do not have insurance, see step 4.*
  4. Apply for assistance in one of three ways: (a) Visit DisasterAssistance.gov (b) Through the FEMA app (c) Call 800.621.3362 or 800.242.7585.

You will also need to provide FEMA with proof of identification, an insurance determination letter and proof of occupancy or ownership to apply.

*Please note: FEMA cannot provide assistance for losses covered by insurance.

Getting Started

To begin the application process, you need:

  • Social Security number of other acceptable proof of citizenship.
  • Names and dates of birth of all family members to live in household

The Application Process

Complete your pre-application

During this phase, we confirm your eligibility with a series of background questions so we can place you on the list for one of our communities.

Complete your full application

When you are at the top of the housing list, we work with you to confirm all HUD and THA eligibility factors. All adult family members living in household must complete personal declaration and information release forms. Then you get to meet with THA staff to review, finalize and sign your application. Once you’re approved, we can schedule your move in!
