Simon López is a life-long Trenton resident, born and raised in the South Ward. He attended Trenton Central High School and went on to attend the School of Public Affairs & Administration at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ, where he graduated with a B.A. in Public and Nonprofit Affairs and a Master’s in Public Administration.

 

Mr. López is currently working for MassMutual Life Insurance Company in their cybersecurity department where he leads talent management and the learning and development initiatives. He is also a member of the Spanish Church of God of Trenton on Commerce Street. He is a regularly-attending member of the Capital City Community Coalition.

 

Mr. López has been committed to serving to the Trenton community since high school. He started this journey by volunteering for the Trenton PEERS program under the nonprofit known as Millhill Child & Family Development. During this time, he and other Trenton PEERS developed, practiced, and performed skits, and interactive workshops depicting how teens think, feel, react, and make decisions during times of conflict. After his time as a Trenton PEER, Mr. López interned for Urban Promise Trenton as the Junior Street Leader Coordinator. In his short time, his role was to teach bible study classes to Trenton children ages 7-13 and provide personal development opportunities for middle school students. Mr. López also spent time working for the Employment Network Team of NJ,  headquartered in Trenton, NJ. Working as an Intern Coordinator and Employment Specialist, Mr. López worked with high school students with disabilities, helping them to gain work experience before graduating.

The Application Process

Complete your pre-application

During this phase, we confirm your eligibility with a series of background questions so we can place you on the list for one of our communities.

Complete your full application

When you are at the top of the housing list, we work with you to confirm all HUD and THA eligibility factors. All adult family members living in household must complete personal declaration and information release forms. Then you get to meet with THA staff to review, finalize and sign your application. Once you’re approved, we can schedule your move in!
