Message from Executive Director Herbert T. Brown

Welcome to the new Trenton Housing Authority website, dedicated to providing the Trenton community with information on the work that we’re doing to make the City a better place for citizens to live and work. We redesigned our website to make it more user friendly, informative and timely for those who live and work in the Trenton community.

Over the last year, there has been a number of exciting activities at the THA; we will regularly update this website to inform the community about all of the great things we are doing in the City of Trenton.

For example, we are extremely proud that in May 2009, the THA was awarded with a $22 million grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the redevelopment of Miller Homes, off of Monmouth Street in the City.  This was the first HUD Hope VI grant ever awarded to the City of Trenton.

The redevelopment of Miller Homes is an extremely important project in the City of Trenton’s revitalization because of the age and condition of the buildings at Miller Homes and its close proximity to the Trenton train station. By redeveloping this site, we will be able to provide new, affordable housing for hundreds of Trenton residents and business people. We are extremely pleased to partner with the City of Trenton on this important revitalization project and will keep you updated from now until the completion of this project.

We believe it is the THA’s mission to improve the quality of life for our residents and because of this, we invested a significant amount of time and money to improve energy efficiency and security measures including new pan-zoom cameras and key fob entryways at THA-owned properties. We believe these improvements will help to save both money and energy as well as improve safety and security in and around tenant homes.

Finally, it is with a heavy heart that I offer my condolences to the families of Wayne Lartigue and Kesner Dufresne Jr.

Prior to becoming the executive director of THA in 2008, Wayne worked for many years for the THA. Wayne’s tireless work at THA contributed greatly to the successful Hope VI award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the redevelopment of Miller Homes. Wayne passed away on August 29, 2009

Kesner was an important member of the THA board who tragically died at the age of 35 on June 9, 2010. Under his leadership, the THA helped to improve various THA-owned properties throughout the City of Trenton. Both Wayne and Kesner will surely be missed.

We look forward to hearing from you about ways that we can make the City of Trenton a better place for our citizens to live and work.

Sincerely,
Herbert T. Brown
